Capabilities: Specialist in the design and development of electro-mechanical equipment. Managed design task groups working on office copiers, designed automatic systems, supervised the design of automatic controls for machines, coordinated the development of new products from initial concept through production. Able to address poorly defined problems in a systematic and organized fashion which leads to an engineered solution.

Accomplishments: Worked on various projects ranging from photovoltaic power generation to instrumentation for the molten aluminum industry. Conceived and designed automated systems for inspecting small ceramic parts and for measuring physical and electrical properties of ceramic substrates. With an outside company, designed and built a computer controlled PLC driven control system for a vacuum deposition furnace which enabled the operating scientist to repeat a batch process exactly without having to touch any control element. The instructions to the system were in plain English and were fed to the computer via a standard keyboard. Since many of the “raw materials” were highly toxic very elaborate precautions were taken to render the system safe. Holds 25 United States patents.
